April 26, 2010

I am sorry to announce that I closed my campaign for Regent today. As it turns out I don’t have sufficient time to run a statewide race. However, all of the wonderful support and interesting conversations I have had with people around Colorado has increased my commitment to CU and Higher Education in Colorado. There is a great deal we can do to improve both, and the impact on our Colorado!

Although I had to drop out of the 2010 Regent Race this time around, I hope to run for Regent in a future election.   It has been great having you as a supporter, and I hope we can continue with the next goal.

Please check out the campaign of Howard Wachtel, who has taken up the campaign as a Democratic candidate for the Regent at-large postion.

Prior to my next campaign, I will continue to update this page with my thoughts about the current state of Higher Education in Colorado, and CU.

Thank you again for your support,

Jim Alexander

Thoughts from my 2010 Campaign …

As Regent, I will work build the future of  University of Colorado in at least two important ways. First, I want to continue CU’s tradition of creating excellent graduates, people who will feed and grow the economy of our state. Secondly, I want to unleash the technology, innovation and talent of everyone at CU to benefit Colorado’s economy (and visa versa). I will be fiscally conservative, and provide sound stewardship of the trust the state puts in the University of Colorado so the state gets the maximum return on its investment.

As a candidate for the Democratic Nomination for the University of Colorado Regent position, I have outlined my positions and goals for the University of Colorado on this web site. Personally, I have participated with the CU community in many ways: as a student, a teacher, an alumni, a student’s parent, a student’s spouse, a technical collaborator, and a football fan.   But, I can still use your input, so I can fully understand the University of Colorado needs. Please feel free to comment, so I can better serve people throughout Colorado.

Also, I rely on you to help spread my message - so please pass the word on, and lets help theCUspirit grow!
Thank you for your support.
